Hey friends.
Im having a early dinner coz will go to see the basketball game later. I tried Chawanmushi tonite! Its Japanese dish. I think I did it so-so well. I made 2 cups of chawanmushi, so I will give 1 to my friend from Japan. Im not sure she will like it or hate it, though....
My classmate told me that shez interested in Japanese today. I was surprised but pleased!! and now Im just wondering, how many of you (I mean you----readers from overseas) are interested in Japanese/Japan... and why??

So, I'm studying Japanese, 二年生です (out of 7), and I just want to go to Japan for the rest of my life. I'll give it a try for a year or 2 and then if I like beign there, I will try to stay.
Why do we like Japan? In my case, I don't like Spain, in general. I don't like how people is, how they behave. I don't feel part of the people. So, I'm trying to find a place I could feel I'm part of it.
Maybe Japan could be the place, and if it's not, I'll search another ;)
I also love that half-crazyness (or full), of the Japanese people. European are more serious, more formal, more conventional, get it? I need something more imaginative, more inspiring, less conventional.
And also I like animes and asian movies. I like the "calm" and "elegance" of asian movies. Art also. And the practical way of doing things.
So, if Japan is not my place, i'll try korea, don't know, we'll see.
The feeling, the feeling of people. I don't feel I can trust people here. I don't trust people, I NEED to trust in people, otherwise I don't know where I will go. I think in Japan I can trust more in people.

Hi Yuka!
(This is not a complete answer... If i write it, it will take lot of words...)
Well... several reasons made me interest about japan...
· Tech.
· Anime & Manga (I know it's silly, but that's one reason.)
· Music.
· Food.
· I'm agree with Bernat: "And the practical way of doing things." (Except killing a moth... hahahaha)
... But basically is a totally different (also new) culture for me. And is very interesting...
I would like to learn some things about Japan:
· Language
· History
· Cooking!
I tried to learn japanese, but was very difficult, so i suspended (not dropped) it... I could take japanese classes at my uni, but i don't have the time (and money) to do it... maybe one day... And i know that japanese is not an "international" language like english, but i don't think that as a problem. Maybe some day i'll visit Japan, maybe not. But knowledge will be inside my mind.... waiting the moment...

I didn't call you stupid! Please read my (kind of) apologize here. I feel bad. That's not what i meant to say... :'( You're a cool person, i don't want you to get angry or sad...

I really like Japanese food, although I'm sure it is made differently here (US) than in Japan. I also like some of the anime and cartoons from Japan. And although I don't know anything about the language, I like how it sounds. I think it is pretty. And finally, I think Japan has an interesting history that I would like to know more about!

Like Japan/Japanese stuff for the following reasons:
1) anime - I like!
2) food - my fave cuisine; hope to be able to make it one day :)
3) the culture which feels so different from the one I'm used to
4) the language sounds kawaii
5) how about Kimura Takuya? :p
