Hi everyone.
I jus checked Scott's blog about China and lavor in sweatshops. Like him, I also feel some kind of guilty to lavors under bad working condition in many Asian countries. We tend to buy cheap stuffs from these countries, then business managers or employers expand their sweatshops or make their employees' working condition worse....to keep exporting cheap stuffs to Japan. Also he mentioned about recent Chinese resistance movement. We are too unlearned in this matter....I felt shamed when I noticed it. I didnt know why Chinese people got angry about visiting Yasukuni-shrine. We should have been given more education about modern and contemporary matter in this world.
I live in Student Village in Perth, you know, and there are many international students here. Of course there are students from so-colled 'poor' countries. You, i mean Scott's ex/present students, know where they are. I realized I had drawn a line between rich countries and poor countries, and thought people in poor countries were a sorry people.....what a shame!! It is important to know which country is developed or less developed(/rich or poor) when people learn global issues, but don misunderstand about poor countries. Scott's students who are studying global issues now, don be stereotyped about the word 'poor'.
