We studied deforestation, didn't we? I remember a CM about Eco Project by Cosmo Oil (this is Japanese company and we call it kosumo sekiyu in Japanese). This compamy is trying to spread rice crop instead of slash-and-burn agriculture in Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands. Cosmo Oil is not a company which sells energy but makes some efforts to reduce the emission of CO2 while they are purifying oil, and to forest in Australia. They think that Japan had been deforestaing and polluting while their development, so Japanese should learn about their history and turn their previous experience to advantage in developing countries. Also, they sell energy produced by oil, but they are working on searching alternative energy, like hydrogen. And they issue a card named "eco". This card costs 500yen a year and this dues are spent for Eco Project. This card is not compulsion, so they rely on individual awareness of environment.

I thought this system is very good because the company which sells energy trying to protect forests and control Co2 emission. We can help this activity by buying "eco" if we want.

We must pay the price for our developed society by working on the protection of the earth.
