Hey hey mates!!

I went to the city to have a dinner with my friends today. I had been working on the group project of the Hospitality Service, you know, and I had the dinner with the group members. We ate Korean BBQ at Arirang, and had some alcohol in the pub. All of us finished the exams, and we are now study-free!!! Wooohoooo^^♪ We had a quite nice time together!!

When we were heading to our home, Keiko and I wanted to go to the bathroom. But when we got there, the one for women was closed. And we were at a loss.... then a guy told us that gals can use the one for ppl with disability at the night time. I thought he was kind. I regret what I felt bout him..... I tried to avoid him at first, coz he is an Aboriginal guy. I had been told that Aboriginal people here often drink and beg money. So I had the bad image bout the Aboriginal people, and thought its betta to avoid them. And today, I thought the Aboriginal guy was kind. But..... when we were leaving the bathroom, he said "give me one dollar, please....." The voice was very weak.. I felt so sad.... Its not because that my faith was betrayed, but I had sympathy for those people. They used to be the members of the noble tribe in Australia. But now, they dont have jobs, and may be no social status either.... They seemed miserable. They are victims of the prejudice. Why are they looked down on?? Who hurt their pride as a noble tribe?? If I could, I would help them... but yea, Im at a loss now. Just feeling that Im a helpless.... Only a few Aboriginal people are cherished.. It reminded me of Japanese Ainu tribe. I hope all Aboriginal people will be recognised as important people. But some says that they are spoiled bcause of 'too much' support from the government.. I can agree with the idea too. The way of support doesn't work..
Oh dear, what can I do for them? Nothing??

American government expressed a desire to financial assistance from Japan-to develop the missile for Missile Difence

Huh??? What a hell the American government and Japanese government are tryin to do??? Why do they like to oppose against the unclear missile with nuclear missile??? I think America has authority and can think of any other method to defeat the missile.... I hope America government is smart enough to solve this matter without the use of the weapon.

and who are going to attack America??? and Japan???

Japan has the three anti-nuclear principles... but it doesnt say that 'we must not assist the development of the nuclear weapon in foreign country'

Japan always obey America.. Its ridiculous.. Im proud of the Japanese law which says Japan will never have nuclear weapons and never have wars, but Japan supported America when the Iraqi War was started. The principle doesnt mean 'its ok to support the war if its held outside of Japan'.. No....

Even if Japan is nuclear-free, or war-free, Im not happy with what Japanese government is trying to do. I cant help thinking that Japanese gevernment is self-centered.

From the world's news: A Memorial Event of the Invention of the Atomic Bomb Was Held in Tennessee

I read the article about the ceremony in Tennessee. According to the people who were concerned with the invention of the atomic bomb (so called 'Manhattan Project') dropping atomic bomb was considered as a right choice.http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20050618-00000010-maip-soci(Sorry this article is written in Japanese, but it says people in Tennessee think that atomic bomb contibuted to end the war, and they hornored themselves to contribute the invention of the bomb)

This is different from what I had learnt.

These following are quotations from my paper for 'Peace, Conflict and Human Rights' class. The topis of this paper was 'If I were a decision maker of dropping an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima in the summer of 1945'.

'The decision maker was provided a lot of information about the profits of dropping the atomic bomb on Japan'

'People who were concerned in the idea of dropping the atomic bomb thought the war should be ended more terribly in the expactation of invading Japan(Simon and Schster, p.684). They needed to exhibit their authority over Japan to control it, and they thought dropping the atomic bomb was a good way to show their power. America forced Japan to surrender unconditionally by showing their power.'

'They needed to drop the atomic bomb not to be blamed for spending too much money on developing nuclear weapons. If the war had ended without using the expensive weapon, the atomic bomb, American people would have blamed the American government for the wasting money. Fortunately they got some official reasons to avoid being blamed-they stated that they dropped an atomic bomb to force Japan to surrender to America, and it prevents American soldiers from being sacrificed(Simon and Schster, p.688).'

'Dropping an atomic bomb was an experiment to know the real damage in inhabited area. They choose some Japanese cities which had not been damaged yet as targets for being dropped an atomic bomb(Simon and Schster, p.689).'

Unlike the then American decision maker, I know the results of dropping the atomic bomb... I visited Hiroshima Peace Museum and listened to the survivers from the atomic bomb twice.

In addition...

'At that time, it was visible that Japan would be defeated in the near future and unnecessary to defeat Japan violently with an atomic bomb'

'A Japanese ambassador, Naosuke Sato was attempting to "interest the Soviets in meditating a Japanese surrender (Simon and Schster, p.684)", that is, America could wait until Japan surrendered the war, without sacrificing American soldiers.'

Can you see what I mean?? Yes, there was no need to kill people with atomic bombs. The atomic bomb were dropped on Japan in the name of end the war and save more lives, but it could be done without dropping the atomic bombs. The atomic bombs were dropped for different reasons.

I wonder, can pro-atomic bomb people stand seeing the pictures of Hiroshima and Nagasaki taken in August of 1945, or even can they stand listening to the survivers from the atomic bombs?

I NEVER blame American people and America itself. I dont have any rights to pursue war responsibility. But I want them to know the truth. Its so sad that they can justify the invention of the atomic bomb which neccesarily killed so many peole. We should study from the past.

Let me say that the information I refered to when i wrote the paper was not Japanese books. It means I was not given the 'Japanese-centered' information. Also, the Dr. who taught me the class was American.

With all my wishes for future world peace,Uka

"There is no Japanese among the victims of the accident"

This speech is often heard from the media when there was an accident in foreign country(I mean country except Japan, as I am a Japanese).

I hate listening to this speech.

I can understand the feeling of families whose family members are in abroad. As I came here, I more understand their feelings, coz my mom might feel just like them. They must be worried their family members in abroad everyday, and they must be afraid of hearing any bad news happen in the countries where their family members are.
So it might sound natural that the information that the families want to hear is if 'there are any Japanese victims'

But this is so sad for me.

Even there are no Japanese who were victimised by the accident, there ARE victims. And there are people who are grieving.

So I think this speech is lack of consideration.

When I heard the news that the international school in Cambodia was occupied by the extremests, I also heard that 'there were no Japanese victims among the children'.... Then?? Is there any victims?? Were people really happy to hear that Japanese children were all unharmed?? Im not. I thought there might be victims, and felt sad.

There are borders among countries, but are there any borders when we care each other??

I NEVER THINK THERE ARE.

Mass media is lopsided.

In Japan, one day news casters say, 'Someone scrawled on a window of subway' on their news program. But they never talk about more considerable, serious incident happened in foreign countries. Do they talk about kidnapped foreign people in Iraq, as much as they did when Japanese people were kidnapped?? How many people know whats going on in Tibet now?

For Japanese people, aren't life of Japanese people equal as the life of people in other countries?? Every life is equally precious.

Then why is this present situation such biased??

On my Bday, she was recording a video with her digital camera!! and in the video, I was saying 'I don wear makeup today~~~~~!!!!!'. Thats funny, but embarrassing!!!!!!

Tonight, with Keiko, we drank alcohol!! She drank wine, Keiko drank two bottles of beer, and I drank sth like....alcoholic soda! Haha, I cant explain.

Yay we all are having fun in Perth.... but Jocelyn will be leaving here soon... she is here on exchange and it is only for 1 semester. I wish we could be here together much n much n much more months, or even years!!! Oh, but the length of the time being together is not equal as the depth of our friendship. So im sure we are good friends when she goes back to Singapore and I go back to Japan. Stay in touch, Jocelyn!!

And I will see her in the end of next semester. It will be my first time to go to Singapore!!! Im really looking forward to going there!!! Also, I hope to see mf there;P Ohhhh I cant wait!!

FFFFREEDOMMMM

Hey heyyyy world!! Uka came back from the busy yuckey life with studyyyy!!!! All of my exams were over now, and I dont have to study anymore!!!!.... till August!! I love knowing/learning new things, but if it is a subject, my interests are halved because I will have exams... Anyway Im still interested in the units which Im gonna take in semester2. Did I tell you guys which units I would take?? Hmmm... I think not. Do you wanna know them!?? Yay I think you guys wanna know what Im gonna study in semester2... Here we go..

Gender Studies: Terms and Debate
Introduction to Disability
Addiction Studies
Beverage Appreciation

Sounds interesting, doesnt it?

Well... hehe, Im gonna take three of them. I mean Im gonna drop the most yuckey one. ※My definition of 'yuckey' here means 'It has complicated assignments, or exams which weigh more than 50% in the assessment'.
ANYWAY!! I put a pose on this matter. I don hav to think bout it now. No more study!!

Oh, do you know bout a charity rubberband?? This rubber band is really popular in Australia now. The reason are not only because the rubber band is fashionable, but also, no, MAINLY, because the rubber band is a casual way to get involved in the charity. My friend wears the one for racism, and another friend and I are wearing the ones for breast canser research. I spent ard A$2.50 on this rubber band (sorry Im not sure bout the price), and this donated money is used for breast canser research. Do you guys in ex-IES E remember sth related to this topic?? Yah!! It reminded me of Terry Fox!! Terry Fox is a hero in Canada who contributed to gather donation for cancer research!! I wish I could take part in the real Terry fox Run!! Scott, could you invite me the Terry Fox Run in Canada someday?? Im serious!!

Oh, I found a picture book bout a little American gal who died of a cancer. She thought of one way to raise funds when she was suffering from cancer-to sell lemonade and gather money for cancer research. She had been sold lemonade and raise funds. After her death, her will is still
living, and the organisation was established to raise funds. She says 'when life gives you lemons, just make lemonade'. It meanse 'even if you encounter difficulties (sour lemon), you can change it into ... hmmm I cant think of good word describes sweet lemonade.. Sorry for my lack of English ability! This picture book is titled 'Alex and the Amazing Lemonade Stand'. This is a real story, so if ya interested in it, i recommemd you to read ittttttt!!!!

Oohhh... its sooooooooo cold!!! Im freezin!! Brrrrr.. Can you imagine that Im shivering with the weather in June??

Well, Im off to bed.. Good night mates. Sweet dreams.. zzZZ

But they are ez ones, so I don hav to worry about them.. maybe! I will go shopping to the city on Fri!! New clothes and bubble tea, here I come!!!!

Whats ya plan for the break? I mean winter break in Australia, and summer break in Japan. One of my friends will come to see me in the beginning of the break. She is from KGU, and studying in Melbourne now!! Yoko, welcome to Perth, and welcome to my tiny room!! Then we will have some relaxing days and might go to the wine tour, which including a visit to chocolate factory! Then we will be heading to Melbourne by long distance train. Yup! We will cross Australia, from west to east!! Sounds exciting, eh??? Yah, we are really excited!!! Also, she wants to see 'sth', but showing 'sth' is somehow embarrassing.... Oops, it is a secret!! Hmmm.. Im not sure yet bout my stay in Melbourne, but guess we are going to join the Great Osean Road tour (am i correct, Yoko??). Im sure I will enjoy my stay in Melbourne!!!! After leaving Melbourne, I will be off to Sydney, to meet my mom. My mom will come to Sydney in July. Ive not seen her for about 4months!! This is my first time to live separately from my mom! Hmmm Im afraid if my mom say 'Uka, youve got so much fat!'..... It might happen...

No, I wrote too much bout my plan in the break! I may run out of topics to write a post.... hahah, stupid me!

As I finished doing my yuckey assignment, I started reading a novel. I love reading but didnt hav time to read. Now I can read books!!!! woopieee(*^^)v I have an insomnia now, but still ots ok coz I have a book to read! But I have to study for exams, ish... maybe laterrrrrrr.....
